Sheriff, awesome thread! I look forward to each of your posts. You and the many others on this website help curb my appetite to return to driving. Think I am going to just buy a few heavy springer cows and raise some calves for now.
P.S. - My grandfather was a deputy sheriff for about 16 years starting back in the late 50's. I can remember my mother going with him on many-a-run when he had to take a woman to the state mental hospital for "evaluation".
The start of my first year with Swift.

Great info.........Thanks Sheriff.
Being married I do not know how Sheriff and others make a go of it, especially with those that have children. being an extra week away from home sounds like the norm in the first year. second year it has to get better if you can hang in there.Sheriff1/6 Thanks this. -
Your idea about the cows isn't a bad one.The Real Thing Thanks this. -
I went to pick up my load last night in Waco, got to shipper and found out that it was rescheduled for 04/22 @ 2100... Even better, I was the second SWIFT driver to show up yesterday for that load, AFTER SWIFT sent an email to shipper confirming new pickup date and time. 13 hours later, I'm still dispatched on that load instead of being in line for a new load. What the heck is night/weekend personnel at SWIFT doing!?

I made it to Bennett, CO and have to shut down until I get some hours back. I saw an odd thing today as I left TX. A wild boar, dead on the side of the road. I'm guessing whoever hit it had some major damage.

Great thread. Keep posting so I can live vicariously through you. Atleast till July when some things come off my license and Iam hire able.
Sheriff1/6 Thanks this. -
Good to hear you are still rolling out there Sheriff.
I'm stuck here at Sumner, post home-time, waiting to be dispatched. Apparently there are a TON of drivers here waiting to get a load so it may be a while.
Take care out there. -
Good to hear you are still up and around. I've stayed the busiest while in the midwest. I've not had to wait for loads and usually I get a preplan before my current load is dropped. I've had several over 1k miles.
