Ah the winds are changing. I got back early this morning and saw a lot of trucks sitting here. I knew I was going to have to wait awhile for a load. I shut down, at dinner and went to bed. At around 0700 my phone went off and I had a load. It picks up early this afternoon. I'm sure it's another reefer, but now that I've hauled my first one I think I can make it.

It seems like the loads out of here really push to get them delivered and then they give you way more than enough time to get back. I figure if I get back as soon as legally and safely possible I'll get another load sooner. Keeping me rolling and the money coming in.

Another good note. I think I'm finally figuring out how to drive a little better. My fuel economy has been steadily improving.

I went to pick up a load in twin falls yesterday, my info said it was a pre load ready at 1400 going to sparks, then Reno this morning. I showed up at 1315 and found out that it was a love load... And it took 5 hours to get loaded, making me late for both appointments. Sent in my Mac 22 as soon as I had an ETA, and didn't hear anything about it. Just got up from my 10 to find that the CSR has rescheduled delivery for Monday and Tuesday... My DM had better get me off this load. I can't afford to sit on a 450 mile run for 6 days...

What in the world are they thinking? Can you go back in and refuse the load? I know my DM has had me do that on loads like that.

I don't think I can. I've already picked it up, and drove with it. I've only got another 70 miles to go. I've declined a load that I'd previously commited myself to, but that was before I showed up to get it. DM says he'd been working on a tcall for me before I sent in my tcall request message. We shall see what my weekend looks like. I'd assume it wouldn't be a problem. The deliveries are both within 10 miles of the sparks terminal. Easy work for a local guy.

Have either one of y'all ever had to run over you daily driving time to get the delivery made or get home or some other reason?

I have been over 3 times I believe. Once was like 30 minutes over my 14 trying to deliver the last stop of a dedicated Walmart load. Never heard anything about them. On the other hand, sheriff got a talkin to on his first one.

i guess it comes down to the safety department at your home terminal. Fontana, my home terminal is lacking in every department, including safety. They just don't seem to care in Fontana.

Isn't it amazing how managament's attitude affects how you perform your job. I recently left what some would call a good job to get my CDL due to my leadership. It blows my mind how they know there is a problem(and they knew) yet would do very little to correct it.

It still seems to me that Swift needs to get their act together in many aspects of business.

I had an interesting conversation with a guy I went to the Academy with. He told me he'd gotten a warning ticket at the scales for being 500lbs over on his tandems. This happened about a month ago. Two days ago he got a ticket for driving in a restricted area. He said that Swift sent him the wrong address for the load and no directions. He put the address in his GPS and ended up in the restricted area. He called the Safety dept. in Lewiston to tell them about the ticket. He still hasn't settled the ticket in court, but he was told by Safety that he now had 4 points on his safety score and one more would result in termination.

Here's an update on my botched load! Its been about 36 hours since I sent in my mac 22. Still stuck on this loa d. I guess layover pay is my only option. Day 3 of this 450 mile run, 3 to go.

I got 2 points from swift for an over weight warning. However, I've had 3 clean inspecrions, -2 points each I think. I supose I'm still at a -4 with them, not sure.
