Hey, I'm not going to argue with you about your OWN paychecks, lol, but are you sure..? 21K is an average of 400 gross a week, 323 after a 23% tax reduction. Were your checks really that low..? You seem too smart to put up with pay like that, lol.
The start of my first year with Swift.

That does seem a tad low IMHO. Maybe had a week or three off and some low mileage weeks... but still... even training pay is better than that. Maybe the $21K is net? I'm still in the first month of solo and my paychecks average out to $30K gross or more so far if I'm looking at working 50 weeks. In order to do that I'm maxing out close to my 70 each week and I've only had one home time of two days in 10 weeks since starting orientation.

Sheriff, were you penalized for the cost of school for not staying the full year with Swift? Anyone on here know what the pay is while on the road with trainer for Swift, after 2 weeks in the school is up?
-
Mike, what is the pay while out with the trainer? After the 2 weeks in the Swift academy, I mean.

I don't think Sheriff logs onto here anymore

im looking at my 2012 W-2 statement right now.
I started with swift in mid February 2012, between then and December 31 I made $19,151.20 NET.
I don't recal what my gross was, but probably somewhere around 15k. I take 30 days off in September when my youngest was born, and maybe another 3 weeks total for home time throughout the year. So a little over 8 months OTR with SWIFT in 2012. That works out to just under $600 net per week. However, some weeks were $200 weeks and others were $900 week.
however you look at it, it wasn't good for me. I stuck it out anyways, hoping it would get better, but it never did.
Since starting here, I average about $1250 net per week.Chase05 Thanks this. -
The training pay when you go out to its a mentor is your states minimum wage for all on duty Time and minimum wage plus $1 hr for all driving time. I made decent checks while I was with my mentor between $350 and $500 a week depending on loads and hometime my mentor liked to go home every two to three weeks for 4-8 days. I also got to thank him one time for a $0.00 paycheck due to his need for hometime.

If your trainer is planning on a long home time I think you should switch trainers. It is their responsibility to train you as continuously and quickly as possible. No excuse for that. If they are essentially taking a vacation in the middle of your training, then they should not have taken you on as a student in the first place.
