If you aren't afraid of hard and dangerous work, you can try flatbedding. Maverick, TMC and Western Express take students. Maverick pays $450wk training and then 31cpm. Western Express only pays 26cpm. I don't remember what TMC pays, but they are good. too.
If you are set on driving van, PAM may be your best bet. Werner has an Eastern Regional division and Swift has a Southeast Regional division.
Those were the options I was considering. I went with Maverick and hop on the bus in the morning to go to orientation.
Good luck! -
LAst time i checked Maverick was only taking experienced drivers.6 months OTR IIRC. -
I'm a soon to be student looking for a good starter company, and I have narrowed it down to three companies. I'm just wondering out of the three which one would be better for me. I like being on the road, and the long time away from home, the freedom. I was just wondering out of USA trucking, WSE trucking, and TRANS AM which one would be the best bet. Now I have done a bit of research and they all offer what I want I was just hoping for an opinion from someone that has already worked or is working for one of those companies.
thanks -
Make that USA trucking and TRANS AM trucking.

TransAm wants you to "fleece" you a truck.
Are these prehires, or where you think you want to be? Being in Georgia there is many opportunites. Werner, Millis, Swift, etc. -
They are where I think I want to be i'm not to sure yet still have to get the cdl before i choose an outfit. I was just thinking of a company for a good 2 year start up then I was going to go work with my step dads company have you ever heard of volume transport?
-
Yea me and my dad have already had that talk it's company driver only. I mainly want to do this so I can pay for college while i'm out on the road so that in 3 years I can get a goverment job. -
Not familiar with Volume. I know if you can get into Millis they have an excellent school in Georgia. They pay better than many starter companies. Many people go there and stay a long time. You have to pay some money up front. Call them.
I went to school paid for by the WIA. So it cost nothing. I would have to do school all over again if I went to Millis. -
Well i'm going to Griffin Tech for my cdl classes everything is paid for by the hope grant. I was just wondering out of the ones that i chose which one would be the best bet to take.
