Anybody read that? Driver applications down as much as 20% and the big dogs at Werner, US Express and England are perplexed........ and they let these guys run these companies?

Talk about clueless and insulated, what a joke!

My rant: Sorry big dogs, there is no money in trucking for corporate gyms and ivory pillars. There is no money corporate jets and million dollar salaries either. Trucking and distribution are accounting cost centers. Favored by tax laws to lose money. This money you spend on goodies belongs to the drivers as decent salaries and benefits from day one, not day 90.

Comments like "we need to get more from the shipper so we can pay more" is BS. You need to can all the short skirts, sell the massive office complex and get back to the basics like one desk in a steel building on a slab with a shop connected. A perfect model would be a T/A.

I for one hope the flight out of the industry continues...and it will with the new HOS. Won't do nothing but raise my value.

Geeze! Choke on it exec's ! I'll enjoy watching.......

is it because perhaps during economic downturn beginning in 08 many came into this lifestyle as a second career having no other options but then when they realized they were getting screwed by these guys they told all their friends on relatives stay away, so now as the economy stregthens there are less people needing second career paths and there are at the same time more people who know enough to stay away from this?

Here is my retort to your rant-I just get a chuckle out of people who are envious of others success. If I start a company who are you to tell me how I should spend my money? If I decide to build the biggest mansion in the world in my back yard and give you a clunker to drive. Guess what? You don't like it? go work somewhere else.
You are not entitled to anything more then what I say you are entitled to at time of hire. Don't like it? Again go work somewhere else. Thats what freedom is. The freedom of choice, not to go around sniveling about how you are owed this and that because you filled out a ap and are to lazy to do what the owner did.
Want the power? Then go get a business degree or invent something and start a company.
Last time I checked no one in this country is forced to work for anyone unless you are a convict.

Taken out of context driver....... It's not about me, it's about the idiots running the companies and whining about recruit apps down 20% ...but not knowing why.

Salary could be an issue...yes? But ( from the The Trucker and quoted ) the exec's will have to ask the shipper for more money to pay the driver more?

Yet they have plenty of cash to add office space with pillars and a corporate gym in choo choo? Plenty of cash to hire another 6 digit CEO at USA ? And many more examples ..........

I could give a sheet less if USA, US Express, England,Weiner man and the rest of them and if they have problems getting folks to apply. I saw comedy in their whine and was prepared to offer them a slice of cheese to go along with it.

I am not envious sahieb, I am retired, own my own truck and I am incorporated. I am not owed anything but my pension. It will be a blue day indeed when I'm seen sniveling about the likes of some mega and his recruiting problems.

Get your chuckle and then try reading the entire post, gather it's meaning and absorb the material.
