    Its sad when the phrase,

"Duct tape would be better than what he did"

    Is true....

My shop runs pipe of all shapes and sizes, pallets wrapped up ect.. wr over secure and were local. I see drivers from other locations (same company) come and pick up, lazy strapping, poor edge protection, under secured even below leagal. Ive told several of them, if you were in my barn, you would be warned once, and fired on the second time. God help them if i ever get the regional spot im aiming for, cuz #### sure the devil aint gonna save em from me.

    I detest under secured loads.

You sure that’s not flat bar alongside an I-beam?

Assuming my above theory is correct, the straps hold the I-beam down, but don’t even touch the flat bar.

I surely hope you don't do open deck work. Spyder and Mack hit the nail on the head. Also, this was on 68 in the mountains. Even if this was on flat land it's an accident waiting to happen. If you truly think the bundle in the center not being secured is acceptable please stick to vans. Also, no edge protection for the beam and the straps technically should be INSIDE the rub rail when practical according to DOT and I agree with them. No reason they couldn't be ran correctly on this load.

You’re wrong about the rub rail, is it a good idea? Probably but the DOT doesn’t require it.

I never said it was a LAW. Re-read my original post. If you did from the very beginning we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Nope that had been completely removed, the DOT takes no stance in it. You can do it if you want but it’s no longer a guideline.
