He might actually be doing ok on rates putting loads together like that. I dunno where he's at, if that kind of overhang is legal on a divisible load or not.

cke, PoleCrusher and Lepton1 Thank this.

Is 3’ off the front and 5+’ off the back of a 53 legal anywhere? I’m all for ltl open deck, that’s what we do at SPD.

cke, jamespmack, PoleCrusher and 2 others Thank this.

Honestly I have no idea. Probably not, but I don't know the laws for the states outside of where I used to run flat bed.

I've talked to a few drivers that almost exclusively do LTL on a flatbed. They work the phones, then fit the puzzle as they go.

Just depends on where it is. Some states are no overhang front or back on 53.... it varies

    cke and jamespmack Thank this.

In dead zones i find ltl loads pay better than full loads of heavy junk. No broker wants their load to play second fiddle on the truck, and few people in their right mind want to deal with 2 brokers harassing for updates at once. When i take a partial out of northeast the extra space is filled with my own stuff. Mine rides for free.

What's the load capacity of a pod roof? Any bets on it being a Chicago truck?

cke, Nostalgic and Lepton1 Thank this.

I’ll take LTL loads any day even if I can’t find a way to fill the rest of the trailer. Scrap metal, and wood only pays $1.40 a mile thanks to the bottom feeders around here. You have an electric motor that’s 8’ long, and weighs barely over a ton for $2.10 a mile? Sign me up!
