Now thats a hell of an idea right there. Do u think the fence would be able to contain any shifting from the load? I wonder wat the breaking point and wll of chain link fence is, got me thinking of all the ways i could use that now lol

It would sure help dissipate some of the energy that few unsecured pieces in top has before shishkabobbing the cab. Id consider the fence a sacrificial throw away item.
Thinking it a step further, just binding it in with the load, it'd probably pop out from under the straps or chains when hit by sliding iron. But if you rigged up a 4 point trip chain connection to the rub rail all the way back at like the landing gear.. [think of a parachute behind a funny car] then the fence would need to pull apart in strands and that would dissipate more energy then just popping out from under your front securement straps.
I think id crimp some carabiners into some aircraft cable if it were me. Im talking all scrap here, zero cost for me to whip up something like that in an afternoon from the junk pile.Lepton1, Swine hauler and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
When i was in the marines i flew on a c130 with the cargo tailgate set half way open and level. Iirc the load was a big metal platform to form a pallet which interlocked with floor tracks. and on it was crates and boxes. Over the pile was one big mesh cable web like a tailgate net strapping it all down.
We were going like 400 mph and thankfully no one brake checked us so i didnt get to see how effective it was for load shift but i reckon smarter folks than me signed off on it.PoleCrusher, Hammer166, Lepton1 and 3 others Thank this. -
