If the strap is long enough hook it to Drivers side of trailer rub rail, go over the top of the pipe, feed it under then back over the top and hook it to the passenger side rub rail

Great idea, that would have worked better.

I already made it 500 miles to the receiver for Monday delivery so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I know this won't be the last time i run into a situation like this. Thanks for tip

I've done something similar. But what I did was put the flats of the smaller strap together. So that the hook catches all of the flat, instead of just the hook portion of the other end.

it will. you have to get the right size of dunnage etc, so you are basically filling that air gap and jamming it up against the bigger bundle. works great with structural steel too. Putting 5000lbs of down pressure on that piece of dunnage, it (and the stuff underneath) is going nowhere.

You can see a few straps like that on this similar load of titanium billets. Specifically the middle strap in the center. CB0A78EA-AD2D-4509-930B-1E7314947A14.jpeg

I just pulled some drilling equipment and had 3 belly wraps like that on 3 different bundles side by side and pipes were about 10ft long. I hate that stuff

Those ffe trucks were built so good they had to slow to 121 to avoid going airborne coming up the mountain.
