The bottom is too thick to hook. It basically sits on top of the latch for a high hook. Our 5th wheels are the standard old style with the adjustment bolt out of the front and twin jaws that latch around the shank. We had too many issues in winter with those style in the video. Cold weather makes them sticky.
Personally I never had an issue and kind of liked them, but then again I'm not a total #### up like some of our drivers.

Yeah, cold grease slows the "action" of the jaws, or ice on the 5'th wheel that can raise the trailer up just enough the jaw is raised up enough to hit the wide bottom part of the kingpin.
