In his defense that sign is legal is Texas because a banner is not required on the truck or trailer. Just pilot cars. But he probably runs that same sign everywhere.

    That’s what I saw and that’s why I don’t like it.

Anti-slip rubber pads every time under stuff like that. Wonder if the guy actually forgot to secure it?

    cke and G13Tomcat Thank this.

    No,he didn't.
    He was lazy.
You see a strap as it slides off.

BTW anti slip mats are required by law on that load in Germany.
As is a higher level off securement compared to DOT rules.
If he had been stopped he would have been put OOS.

    misterG and G13Tomcat Thank this.

I didn't think twice about chaining this. But since then I keep seeing it on other people's decks with 2 chains thru the center.
Those were 3 spools ea about 12k#. I did 4 chains front and back and 2 chains on the middle one.
    What's best practice here?

cke, misterG, clausland and 2 others Thank this.

12k a piece then 2 chains would be plenty . Id probably throw a 3rd on on the front and call it a day ... u got plenty of securement tho
