Yet DOT will find that one loose strap and write him up for an unsecured load lol.

Any idea what caused this? The previous carnage on the highway got overwritten before I pulled the card, but looks like 2 or 3 A-frames broke free.

1st guess is failure to do load check soon enough. Straps got loose, chain reaction I’m guessing. 2 4” straps per should have done it. But maybe just 1 per. Can’t tell

From what can be seen, these are raw slabs. Looking at how the straps are laying on the trailer, they had cut through on some. Just a guess here, but it was a combination of a few things. Speed was one factor, you see the frames and broken slabs on the left side of the road. Says speed, then cut straps. Raw slabs like that have very sharp edges and need serious protection under the straps, It will eat a strap in no time. The last A frame on the trailer is also sitting a bit twisted. Probably almost lost that one as well.
One of them “ just strap and go loads”

Soapstone slabs is one place where they're needed, unless you want them all damaged by the time you deliver. Just need to properly protect all the edges.
