I carried one, but it's the type that rolls up into a little case. I always measure from the top down, as that is where the height is........

I don’t, but I do carry 30’ tape measure that has saved my arse plenty of times. Pulling a low-pro step, you have to double check what the brokers tell you. I’m going to purchase a height stick soon though.

Used to have one in every wrecker, towing loaded car haulers was nerve racking. Best to check wrecked van trailers too. The get taller when flopped hard. Now I dont worry. It fits under the tarp, or does. No need!

Here's what happens when l try to take short cuts. I usually don't use straps but l had a 15000lb load and a trailer with straps and 3 drops to do. Sooo off l go after throwing some straps through like l see others do. And l got to re secure it twice in 100 miles and have a customer move it back into place. No real danger of it coming off the trailer but it's not a good feeling to see the pipe migrating off the side of the trailer. Plus the attention it could have drawn from the wrong guys lol. Live and learn. At least it made it to the customer with no damages and no driving awards for me

I was towed once with a pickup on the head rack. Told the operator it was already over 13’6”. I tried to tell him to pull the front wheels and lower it. Thank goodness it wasn’t my responsibility when he hit a sign with the truck! Roof damage = total loss! Expensive day for that tow company!
