That one is old but it’s funny every time!

you know what, after seeing it several times I just now realized the straps are meant to hold the dunnage on the sides (I think?). Still sketchy as F, but that makes a little more sense than strapping the gravel down. LOL

It would seem that he might want a strap every layer here. But I'm probably wrong.

Couple of straps on bottom two layers
    Belly wrap top pipe
    Invest in pipe stakes
6 ft winch bar to keep straps tight.

That has been a hot topic here on several occasions. I always put straps on every layer, no matter what I haul. Makes me sleep better and only takes a couple minutes. Whatever, I'm not hauling it...lol

I usually do 2 straps per layer, and then the top gets a strap on each side of the strips. Last is mostly OCD I think, but to pretend it's not, I tell myself that it's something to keep the dunnage from moving lol. (None ever have...)

Not going to lie, I usually way over strap. Here is my last load before it was tarped.

Edit, that load weighed right under 40k.

Not my load, so not my choice. I have seen way too many pipe loads not stop when the truck did. I tend to over secure them. The minimum I would have done, 2 on first layer, 4 on second layer, 5 over the top with 3 of them a choke wrap on the top piece, plus 3 choke bands on the whole load.
Second and top straps would be alternating pulls.
