I've done the same. As long as you don't take off from a redlight like you are in a drag race a 1 inch strap its fine. A decent quality 1 inch strap has a wll of what? 800 lbs. That's sufficient to put enough downward force on the load to keep it from vibrating out the back of the bed. Seriously dude, its a dozen 2x4s and 8 or so 2x6s and he has the benefit of watching it the entire way in his rear view mirror.

Didn’t think you could operate anything but 1/2” chains and binders - so it is not true what they say about old dogs and new tricks....

Hope the wife is doing better

I am headed to San Leandro for after the 4th

True. With a Chevy he can't go fast enough to get himself into any trouble.

I would’ve been worried about the bottom ones walking out.

If that were me it would’ve been stacked slightly higher and more narrow, with bands installed by the store, and 2 straps.

And you know what the worst thing about that is, aside from the potential danger to bystanders?

If a cop sees it, now ALL of you have targets on backs thanks be to one knucklehead’s stupidity.

    If it goes at all...

I've got 3 Fords and 2 GM's (1 Chevy, 1 GMC)..and the Fords maybe once every couple years need something besides fuel or an oil change. The GM's are about every month or two...absolutely ridiculous how much trouble they are. Even the Dodge the wife used to have, while not as reliable as any of the Fords, was less trouble than any of the GM's.

I guess, I’ve got a trailblazer out here with. 235,000 Miles that only needed a couple wheel bearings and a water pump. A Suburban with 123,000 that I’ve never touched. We run Chevys at work and have really good luck with them.

Oxbow, cke and Tug Toy Thank this.

Last fall some one bought maybe twice that lumber and was going home. No straps, no tie downs, no tailgate to keep it in the truck. He took off from a red and dumped all that lumber right in the middle of the intersection.
"I didn't know it would slide out like that" was his excuse when a bunch of us threw it all back in his truck so we could get through the intersection. People are morons.
