That's a pivot. It's really light. The layering thing has been discussed alot in this thread. Not gonna lie, I've brought it up more than a few times myself. Guys who are way better at the green book than myself have pointed out that alot if the layering requirements only pertain to lumber and pipe, (if I remember correctly). One could argue that load is indeed pipe. So, is it legal.....I dunno. Alot of what is and what isn't, us up for immediate interpretation by the jackwad that pulls you over. I layer my straps on just about every load. That is my stance on the subject. I've seen and argued with (?) others that don't layer their straps at all. In the end, if it's on your trailer and your responsible for it.

Edit: plus, I would have crossed that lighter color strap as a belly strap. Same on the front, so there were 2.

I was trying to figure out what the tires were for. Makes sense now that you said its a pivot... I agree what you said i belly strap layers anytime i get the chance to. This load seems like it would be quite easy. And the lighter stuff it is more effective on, in my experience. especially if you run into the situation of not being able to tighten the straps realy tight because worried about damaging the freight. Im interested to see how many straps are over the top of the entire load

Meh... it’s probably legal because it’s light. But definitely not smart and it looks like someone was pretty lazy. I would definitely put straps over those tires just to make it look nice if nothing else. This is why I carry an abundance of 2 inch ratchet straps.

When I worked at Prime I picked a few of these pivots up in Nebraska. They had strapping instructions printed on a handout they would give you when coming in. The real ####ty thing about dropping these off and why I told them I'd never do another is the receivers often want you to drive back and forth through a field all day to lay it out. It was ######## and they paid #### for detention.

I understand the part about driving back and forth in the field to a certain extent, but it is an irrigation pivot.........where did you think that it would go?

As a certified door slammer. The flatbed lingo goes right over my head.

No clue what a pivot is in trucking. Belly strap???

I do appreciate the answers don't get me wrong.

So I guess at the end of the day it's legal cause he has that one strap on the bottom within 2 feet of the yellow one?

A pivot meaning that load is an irrigation pivot going to a farmer. Its just dissasembled for transport. I dont think it is legal. Even if it is legal it is not a good idea to roll down the road without a couple straps in the middle sections of all that pipe... It will more then likely make the scalehouse take a 2nd look as ur rolling over the scale and that is just opening you up to have a bad day.
