Yeah the low light didn’t help. 40’ I beam with 3 small stacks of cut I beams on top. One over each small stack. 3 total chains for the whole load. For a company called “steel and pipe supply” you think that would do a little better.

I've done worse. I drove 1000 miles with my winch bar on my trailer parallel and inches from the side underneath some lumber from Seattle to South Dakota. I found it after 5 minutes of searching and confusion when I needed it to unload. I also drove about 200 miles with my small toolbox sitting on my APU. By some miracle neither fell off.

Use grabby edge protectors (felt pads) and hes probably overkill for the weight, but small beams tend to wiggle under single points

Im guessing you dont approve of this either?
48 ft, aluminum railcar sides (extrusion)
    Small pallet of parts
    3k lb total, if that.
Rode 1400 miles with 0 movement, took 15 minutes to load and secure

My approval or not doesn’t matter. Neither load has the proper amount of securement as required by regulation.

I get it, I haul a lot of long light stuff for the areospace industry. Last week I pre loaded a 53’ long 1000 pound cart for another driver. It feels kind of silly putting 6 straps on it, but that’s what’s required to cover the length.

Those loads always look scary, like with a bunch of little things ready to come walking right off the back.

One distributor in my neck of the woods uses some kind of rail system around the trailer that comes about up about 6-8 inches to prevent that.

Anyone running a flatbed for any length of time has seen an abundance of these small miracles.

It doesnt matter the weight or not . 40ft of load needs a minimum of 5 straps if you have no bulkhead or 4 if you do.what does it hurt to throw a couple extra straps? It may just save your life one day.
