Ya, IMO it's a horrible load to pickup because of how they space it and it's dropped on the trailer with those magnetic crane type deal so it tears the hell outta the suspension as they drop each bundle off the magnet.

Regarding has no oil on it ,has to be used in concrete as reinforcement. That's why it's call rebar. You're probably thinking of greasy bars or cold roll.

This is a top notch that had me in tears. Added it to my vocabulary.

P.s Was loading today and an experienced driver told me how he once got a load of 44k granite block onto his aluminium stepdeck. That block turned out to be 49.5k on scales. His dispatch told him it was fine, "do your job". At his next stop he noticed that the frame had cracked. So he made it to one of the company locations, got a brand new trailer and the manager organized reloading. Guess what happened next - that second trailer's alu frame cracked, too. He told me the manager wanted to put all the blame on him and luckily he had his objections recorded. He said a steel trailer would have been needed for this kind of load.
Just passing what I heard but would be interesting to know if that could be a true story. The company, if I remember correctly, was ATS

Not real confident that happened. We have MAC aluminum trailers and I’ve had 49k plus coils on them several times with no issues. Point loading for a granite block or coil can’t be too different though I admit to have never hauled one

Upon rereading post I see you said it was a step deck but I’m not real familiar with steps so maybe that was a factor
