Even brand new vehicles are class 9 hazmat (flammable fueled vehicles) which doesn't require placarding, but does require the $1M public liability policy limits. Something for you open deck guys to keep in mind, as I'm sure there's a Richard T. Head DOT cop out there who thinks to look at such things when they're unable to find anything else.

There's more than one. Several of our drivers have gotten tickets for not having placards on trailers full of lawn movers, utv, etc.

Yes, the ticket gets tossed as soon as we go to court but it's still a freakin hassle.

As long as it's being shipped domestically you don't need placards, Haz-Mat endorsement or to register with PHMSA. Sounds like you all were being hassled.

Yes, it's most likely those drivers were either caught up in policing for profit or were dealing with an officer who didn't understand the regulations.

Or the driver mouthed off and "got taught a lesson". I don't know any of the drivers, just the account manager.

Looks like a picture for Ike! I followed a van trailer down I65 today, and I have no idea what he had been hauling or was hauling, but he had at least 16” of twist in the back half of that trailer… it was leaning to the right like crazy

Clearly this is wrong. but what precisely happened?

Im going to take a stab at broken driver side main beam. Its not both sides if you look close. Anyone got any better guesses?

I mean, it is a Utility. And after admiring earlier today, the fine welding normally hidden by the rear rub rail that was missing from the Utility flat in front of me at a red light, I can safely say Utility could stand some better QC on welds. And poor QC tends to be a facilty-wide problem.

Sure, it's likely been abused, but when it starts out ####ty, it doesn't take much abuse to fill the bucket of #### the rest of the way.
