Leaves the straps rolled in the winches. What did he expect to happen?

And this is why coils are like apex predators. You either respect them or they kill you.

If your coil isn’t this secure, it ain’t secure.

Side note… every one of these accidents, I am noticing the straps all rolled up in the winches. I think this ends the debate over which is superior; pulling them every time vs rolling them in the winches.

Haha I had the same thought! Though I was surprised to see that nice shiny KW you posted with straps on winches. I guess he spent all his money on those stacks and couldn’t afford a side box.

Actually Kyle G, if you look at the picture magified, you'll see he did have a side box...but it was crushed and the contents disbursed when the bed folded and hit the ground. Notice the boxes of bungees under the folded part and the edge protectors and part of the box near the rear axles? :)

What’s the straps on the winches have to do with the trailer braking in half…?

or is it a mindset like the the Cascadia drones suffer from…..

In reality, nothing. It’s just kind of a running joke/debate around here. Many would say that leaving straps on the winches is a sign of laziness, or someone who doesn’t put a lot of effort into taking care of their equipment (and thus, is more prone to equipment failure). Others insist it doesn’t matter and they leave them on because it’s more efficient and the other guys are the dumb ones for rolling them up... or something.
