I don't know what is going on at this Pilot Dealer/One9 truck stop but they must have something in the water because drivers keep making boo-boos here.
About a month ago or so I was traveling northbound on the service road of I-35E in Red Oak, TX at the 410MM. I have to come to a stop because an International 9400 pulling a loaded reefer is blocking both lanes of the service road because his trailer had become disconnected from the 5th wheel and he dropped it down on the the tires and the frame. At this moment when myself and my father-in-law arrived, the driver had not figured out how to get the trailer off of the frame and on to the 5th wheel by any means other than attempting to raise the landing gear by hand with 48K in the box. He said he had been cranking for 35 minutes. This section of I-35E NB is pretty well patrolled by Red Oak City Cops, Ellis County Sheriff and TX DOT and surprisingly no law enforcement had showed up yet and nobody called the law. My father-in-law and I helped him use the airbags of the truck to raise the trailer which stunk because his air system was terrible and he had to hold it at 1600rpm just to get the air bags to raise with the weight of the trailer on it. Too bad I didn't get any pics of the dropped trailer but I did get pics from this morning.
This one has me perplexed... the driver didn't even attempt to make the right turn on to the northbound service road. He kept going straight through the guard rail and down the median/embankment.
