Liquid Asphalt is the glue that is shipped at 250 to 500 degrees and is mixed with gravel in a heated drum mixer to make the semi solid "asphalt" that is spread out to make one type of pavement

Hot oil shipped at 275 believe it or not has a bit of soap in it.

It's a Lego trailer. With my hate out of the way. This is why I say don't haul big singles. It will break any trailer in enough time.

Almost seems like they ought to use lowboys to handle the concentrated weight.

Barely enough money in coils to pay for fuel and you want them to start buying permits for weight?

That trailer was probably showing signs of failure long before it broke.

I guess I was more concerned with paying for trailers. We don't see coil haulers often.

And I got busted in 2004 or so for hauling a 52K coil on a tridem 40T lowbed into Michigan because my trailer axles were over 13K each and I was legal everywhere else from Regina SK to Detroit MI. I was 84K gross on 6 and was registered for 88K or better all through and needed very minor permits. I think my trailer weight was 41K.
Ford bought a coil from Ipsco and they put a rush on it and I got the call.

I know down south (think Alabama ) they used to use 4 axle lowboys to haul giant single coils - don’t know if they still do or not.

I've carried coils, but not on a trailer like that, would it not have been better to put a single coil mid spread, or would that have overloaded the spread?

CAXPT, Kyle G., cke and 1 other person Thank this.
