Agree on chain. But you can keep your snap binders. I own 2 and they are collecting dust on shop wall.Deere hunter, Nostalgic, broke down plumber and 4 others Thank this. -

It all depends on how receiver wants it shipped.
But understand lay down coils are more dangerous. It's relying 100% on banding to keep coils wound. They are under extreme tension and will unwind. Standing up it helps with this and chain adds to it. Your not really relying on banding. Why chaining through the center is important. They will telescope also. Centers come out first, which cuts straps. Suicide is in my opinion the safest way to transport correctly. Shotgun normally sets between frame rails and is hard on trailer. And they fail of the side on to cars.
Side fork lift is popular. Drive on load is possible with small stuff. But driving a lift on a trailer to pick up a big coil would weigh so much it would destroy a trailer. Plus most flat beds are not build heavy enough for drive on.broke down plumber, Deere hunter, Nostalgic and 10 others Thank this. -

NP. That's just something I'm experienced at. Stick around. I've learned about aspects of Trucking that I will never experience from these men and women. Lots of good people around here.broke down plumber, Deere hunter, Sons Hero and 10 others Thank this. -

Nvm, I see the rop looks busted. Hit a low something? Would have to have been a beam not a bridge as the hood looks intact. One of those four binders and a chain will hold it loads?
Any chance there’s another picture, the possible carnage and what looks like a second one has me wondering what happened.Last edited: Oct 18, 2024
