John Deere isn’t a lease price. Maybe you’re talking about the part of the contract where it says the purchaser doesn’t own the software and they’re licensing it to them? My cousin has two big JD tractors, an air seeder, a row crop planter, several smaller tractors, and a bunch of haying equipment. It’s purchased and sold or traded when it’s time to upgrade. JD can’t just come and take the tractor unless it’s a repo.

And I’d like to see some proof of vehicles getting bricked because of private sale. If I buy something for cash or finance it at my local bank and the next buyer does the same thing how would a manufacturer even know anything about the title after I got it when I made the initial purchase?

They seem to be able to track ownership for recalls I think.

When you buy from the manufacturer or dealer, they won't brick your car cause it's not a private sale. if you decide to sell the car, I.E. facebook marketplace, craigslist, when the buyer of your car goes to get the title switched over in their name, of course the systems update and somehow the manufacturer knows it too. It doesn't even matter it it's cash. It's when the DOT systems update that vehicle as having a new owner is when the manufacturer bricks it. Because they just want to control you and your vehicle. It's scary. They can just do it randomly if they want to.

There are plenty of forums out there about bricked cars mostly EVs. Some cars will brick themselves due to "updates".

Bmw was doing that with the cars upgrades , heated seats gps and all the other fancy things but consumers raised hell and they ended it .

Done by vin and registration. A manufacturer can get a report of registered vehicles and owners within a vin range from the states.

I am very skeptical of this. Sounds questionable from a number of legalities.
Can you cite any factual documented and reported examples of this. Not just a “forum post” of a friend of a friend thing.

True, BMW and I think also Mercedes Benz made a bunch of “Options” like heated seats and others were supposed to go to a subscription service.
