That had "Redneck" written all over it! We did a lot of stuff crazier than that in my Oily days, but only on short gravel road moves.

We got caught two-trucking a whole derrick (minus the A-legs) on a 3 mile move. DOT pulled out of the trees just ahead of me and wasn't very amused!

"Bootleg trucking" as I like to refer to it. What the heck we all have done it one time or the next.

I'll bet he's never ridden a motorcycle on the highway before. Just something I think about when I see stupid s#@t like this or crazy stuff laying in the roadway.

I haven't heard the word Oily referring to hands in the patch in forever. To be honest, I forgot about it.

Way back when dirt was young in my Oily days, I was about a 1/4 mile from the yard sitting at a redlight. One of those dustbuster GM vans is across from me, me on one curb, her on the other, of 5 wide lanes.

I pull in yard and go back to the pumps, and here comes the dustbuster.
    "You broke my windshield!"
I point at the clean deck and tell her I'm pretty sure that even if it wasn't, I doubted a rock was jumping across all that traffic since we were both at a dead stop at the light. She cussed me, of course, trying to shout over me when I mention the light, but didn't take me up on my offer to go visit with the boss in the office.

I'm sure she just saw oilfield $$$ and didn't want to have to pay for that HUGE windshield in her dustbuster. But Hammer wasn't playing that game that day!

20250116_142028.jpg I thought even worms had more brains than to park in the way with their pilot cars.

    20250116_142142.jpg

And that's making my eye twitch. They aren't worm-hooked, but center the pull on those loops! Also, he's got a forward pull going on, but it's just depending on the bite of the hook on the skid, there's not anything welded on the flange to keep those hooks from sliding forward.

CAXPT, cke, Rugerfan and 3 others Thank this.
