Used to load out of a mill that was 2 miles from the U.S./Canada border.
Once asked one of the loaders.
Me; You get trees from Canada?
Loader; Uhh, don’t know, probably.
Me; wonder if those are the ones they cut in metric sizes.
Loader; Uhhh, well, they probably do.

I have wrenches that say "Standard" Like 9/16 is the standard. One country uses King Georges system and everyone else is metric so we call it "Standard" . Like Mph !! WTH is that?
broke down plumber, cke, Feedman and 2 others Thank this. -
I used to work on some of them trailers. Talk about a company that didn't wanna spend money... They even used some owner ops. Dad ran a few summers for them. He really liked it.
Then they came to shop and wanted quotes to rebuild, blast and paint all them trailers. Didn't like when I turned down to quote it. I politely said they were 5 years to late to refurbish.D.Tibbitt, Sons Hero, broke down plumber and 9 others Thank this. -

The owner ops were phased out just before I got there. I enjoyed my run with them but as the old man got more removed from the business and his kid Brian got involved the worse it got. I had enough of their nonsense when they combined everything over to Majestic drive by Crown Battery. I was one month from getting a ten year safety award which was a nice little 6 day 5 night vacation at one of the resorts/cruises they had in place at several places when they “revamped” their safety incentive program and I ended up with a 500$ check instead. There was only one other guy who had gotten to that point. Announced the change in a Saturday morning drivers meeting. Went home and told the wife. Her response was “they took away my vacation cruise ?!?!” I replied “well technically they took away MY vacation cruise, but yeah you ain’t goin anywhere either!”. In hindsight I could have phrase that better. I had been wanting to leave for about 12 months prior to that but she was reluctant for me to leave as I was number 1 driver on the Mobile Home side and the pay , schedule and benefits were good for her and the kids. About 6 months later though I was bottom of the board at R&L and that proved to be a good run too. The eventually went to leased Ryder power and Ryder maintenance on their wagons. You referring to those old spread axle baby blue curtain sides they wanted redone @jamespmack ?
