I am so much more value dead than alive.

Considering the advancing pain panel that increases a small percent annually, I have a very limited amount of years before I am forced back into pill pushers.

112 is not going to happen, no way no how. I would be a very bad mean angry sob burning up in meds by then. I rather just pass on and let them burn this old body and good riddiance. But not just yet.

Wife and I worked for FFE and two other companies in 2001 for a total of 306 service days out away from home as filed to IRS and state taxes (For perdiem purposes that year) and the gross income came to 67000 exactly on the both of us (Keeping in mind we ran for FFE 10 months of that year as a H/W team.)

That 306 days works out to around 7500 hours total give or take that the truck is in motion minus a couple of hours DAILY meaning we were at least 125 miles from our home for all those days in 2001.

The actual rate of pay each of us earned in 2001 came out to about 4.52 a hour or ... 34000 gross each.

Minimum Arkansas wages stood at about 6.25 that year. It'\s 10.00 now and 11.00 in 2021 by consitutional amendment.

    4.52 MWAH! poof

Thats why we both reached the agreement that trucking? is NOT WORTH IT. NOT.

Why do I even talk about getting back on? Well... there is a oppertunity pending medical repairs later this year. If i got back into it I will make sure that the income each week is a hell of alot more than just a measly 4.52 a hour.

One position that is possible will pay me 10.00 times 14 hours daily flat times 7 days flat leave off everything else. THAT will be ok with me. Its not much each week but you would not hear any complaints from me doing that particular work on those terms. In mileage terms that truck will be rolling a mimimum of 600 miles daily every 24 hours.

Home prices have increased 5x since 1980.

Pay is marginally higher. If it was 5x higher then drivers who made 30-40k in 1980 would be pulling in 150-200k.

A can of soda in a vending machine was 25c in 1980. Or maybe 15-20c, can't remember exactly. Now I see them in rest areas for 2.50 to 3 dollar each in a slightly larger plastic bottle.

It's not just trucking though. It's most every job in the country that is being deflated while everything costs multiple times more.

That's right....and the things that are mandated or necessary is what has skyrocketed the most...the can of soda was a really good example

You've a better chance of them rolling more self-driving trucks on the road before paying OTR drivers hourly.

It's sad that most drivers bought into the idea that unions are a bad thing.

We united could literally bring the greatest economy in the history of the world to its knees in just a few short days. Trufe.

SADLY & UNFORTUNATELY, many people are either currently in this predicament, or will eventually end up being in this predicament.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
