the unnecessary usage of j-brakes, why????

Most drivers like the noise -

I haven't read most of the earlier posts, but, really, most drivers want to drive a big, long-nose, clean, fast truck that makes a lot of noise when desired . . . Not saying this is wrong or right, just the way it is . . . flies in the face of PC, but goes back to "fast horses", etc. This is where we came from, and has nothing to do with computers, ecology, etc.

 

I'd rock my engine brake hard in that town if the sign said that.

I don't have a Jake, I have a C-Brake.

 

Did anyone know that pickup trucks with diesel engines are coming with a jake brake option now? My neighbor down the road has one on his Dodge snd it's a loud SOB!

 

The dodge my boss had on harvest had an exhaust brake on it. At least it seemed like an exhaust brake. It was quiet but worked pretty well. It cut off way to early though, needed to drag the engine down lower.

 

Well ivanhoe, I guess you don't want your groceries delivered to the store you shop at, or the furniture you want to buy, or computer, or anything you feel like purchasing here soon (even a new car) because whether it is brought by truck or train both will have to make a little noise...... but at least if brought by truck, you won't be sitting there 10 minutes waiting for the train to go by.....

but then again YOU still NEED the TRUCK and DRIVER.......... to get it from rail yard to store..... for you to fill your new home OFF the interstate

 

Now that you mention it I have a Jacobs model 349A hi effenccy device that converts my energy producing power plant to an air compressor.
SO does this mean I can't run an air compressor in these WHINE zones???
And again if trucks annoy your whining snivelling senseabilitys take the one week challenge

 

Hello my dear friend ivanhoe, My apologies from me and the rest of the trucking industries due to the amount of undesired noise when passing through your sacred nest. I apreciate the fact that you stated that you needed to vent out. I have been driving for 19 years and im still learning on how to be more professional as the years go by. In two separate ocassions i have lost my jake brakes going down steep down grades, ones in California Gravevine and Ones on the 15 in Nevada. I asure you that having a loaded truck with 80,000 lbs coming down a steep grade with a failing jake brake and brakes fading due to taking the hill down too fast from the get go thinking that your brakes and j brakes are working properly will hunt you for the rest of your life. Thank god that in those two separte ocassions i managed to stop the truck. But for your observation, i assure you that us truck drivers for the most part are considerate when we use the jake brake because we dont want to loose are hearing sensitivity that we need to have with minimum standards to pass the medical exam in other to pass it to continue driving. But, further more maybe the few trucks that activate the jake brakes on that slight downgrade by the curb where you live are loaded up to capacity and is being done to assure control going downhill and to ajust speed on curb because the might not know the road. For example, im from California and this is the first year that i had to drive out of state for most of the year when in the past i only had to dot it occassionaly. This is due to the supply and demand now in days with this economy. We truck drivers have to do this in order to stay aflot in business.......... ivanhoe you have a very special christmas in the company of your love ones in good health and prosperity. Thank you.
