Ok, but i was thinking..heres the problem.
In the event of a nuclear strike there would be minimum 30 minutes advance notice.
You get the hell out BEFORE the emp.
My car does 120mph....is that fast enough?![]()

The turbo is not a suitable muffling device..... I guarantee you, if I were to take the muffler off my truck, it would be loud as hell. Anytime you remove a muffler from an engine, it wont be quiet anymore. Thats why they call them "mufflers".....
Like I said before, leave the mufflers on your truck and depending on how loud your engine is, you can almost run your jakes anytime you want and not get in trouble. problem solved. -
Yup the volvo I used to run had a really quiet engine brake, could hardly hear it even with the windows open. Now the one on my concrete mixer you can hear it coming about 3 or 4 blocks away in town.

30 minutes from launch detection at maximum range, maybe. And they'd still have to get the word out. If they bothered, considering the people in charge nowadays. Then everyone has the same idea, the road instantly jams with mass panic, and everyone's screwed. Besides, with no idea what the primary targets are, you could run from one right into another one and never know it.AfterShock Thanks this.

Don't they still have those underground bunkers somewhere?
-
I'd run into BFE. They aren't going to bomb BFE.
i'd use my GPS to get there with all backroads haulin ### (in my car, of course)
most of them have been disclosed to the public and de-militarized and basically abandoned
i'd like to build my own. I'm not the tinfoil hat type or anything, I'd build it so it just seems like an ordinary part of the house, and would be used as such on a regular basis.
It would be possible to seal off from the outside world and would have the needed HVAC systems and large non perishable food supplies hidden so visitors wouldnt notice it.
It also wouldnt be excessively thick concrete or anything. Not made for a direct strike. I'm not ever going to live in a place where i'm likely to be ground zero. Just a fallout shelter basically. Very simple. -
reason some drivers use jbrakes n others dont depends on how heavy theyre haulin. the ones that use them r mostly pullin heavy where the ones arent dont need jakes
-
but in a truckstop?
-
But the truck stops all have such steep parking lots, that why those drivers uses the jakes there ROFLMAO.
-
now i have to admit, i have accidently used my jakes in truckstops before. But its because i have steering wheel controls and sometimes i bump the jake brake button, and it cant be turned off with the steering wheel turned (cant find the button then!) mine arent very loud though...
but its soo annoying when youre trying to sleep and some jerk flys past you at 20mph with the jakes blasting..
