If you don't like the rates, don't haul the freight!

Rates have always gone up and down. That's just part of relying on the spot market load boards. the only one surprised by today's rates are guys that weren't around for the last down turn. Best figure out how to survive on today's rates or you won't be around to take advantage when they go back up.

It isn't just spot -- I know a few guys with direct accounts who have had to eat rate cuts to keep their business.

Ya, rate cuts are every where. But I think it's the guys working only by public load boards that see the biggest hit.

I'll be patiently awaiting the usual suspects to chime in .... "I've been averaging $2.30 per mile all miles during this slow time"

Hahahaha that's funny because I have, for the whole year, but, volume is way down. And you're never gonna believe this but here it is, rates are way up for me. I have been very aggressive on what little freight I have booked.

It's not hard to keep rates up. What's hard is actually booking a load. My last load was $10/mile but it was ~3 months ago. :)
