The last guy that I partnered with got off my because he didn't like the runs that I was getting fairly consistently, he transferred to a different role. But he wanted to stay on my fleet due to the manual labor the job offered. He's worried about his weight, he's a heavier set guy and the labor offered him work out sessions which he got paid to do.
GD is similar there. If you are worried about your weight having some hard work in your job aint a bad thing.
We get paid $30 for every pick up, and each pick up averages about 40 minutes. So that's better than $30 an hour. If you took a regular job doing labor like that without the driving you might earn 10-12 an hour. But when you have your CDL it more than doubles your worth. -
Maybe I missed it, what company is this?
-
I work for FFE. Frozen Food Express.
They have two terminals in Florida. But the fleet I work is out of Lancaster TX.
You can work for FFE in FL if you have your CDL and you can haul food between terminals all over the country and make some good money even as a rookie if you are willing to team drive. They have a terminal in south Jacksonville I believe. I haven't been there in forever but it's a pretty good size. I used to haul liquor, chocolate, and cheesecake to that terminal in my 6 week training.
Its a pretty good company man they have a lot of choices for you to choose from depending on what you want. They have local driving positions that start at like 18-19 an hour with a lot of overtime available. They have regional stuff where you are home every weekend, or you can do the linehaul and drive all over the country and get 1 day off for every week you are out. If you team drive that you should make some good money.
Then when you get your year of experience and you decide you tolerate team driving then you can switch to major company like R&L Carriers which will pay you 100k+ to pull double trailers from terminal to terminal.
But if you do not like the idea of team driving and sharing your truck with another person then do with Freymiller, Chinatown recommendation. Team drivers make more money but also trucking is an experience and you need to enjoy what you are doing because you are living it.Wasted Thyme and FloridaBoy93 Thank this. -
Just got a message from the recruiter. As follows: FFE: OTR / 15-17 days out, 3-4 days in. Drop and hook.
-
Is that great paying freight when you get injured doing that ????
-
Hahahahahahaha
-
Yes, it is drop and hook. You are just driving trailers from one terminal to another. So you might head up to Burlington NJ, or west to Lancaster. Then from there, who knows.
Last I heard the average linehaul paycheck for a solo driver was about $800 gross. The team drivers do better, like $1200 a week or so.
I do more like $1500 average with FFE. It's about gross $6,000 a month, more or less. More if I work through hometime or if I have to train someone. -
Contact Davis in Starke Florida maybe that’s a good fit for you ?
-
Interesting. Cause they say they want 6 months or apply as s trainee. So I applied as a trainee and they told me they weren’t interested. Still won’t tell me WHYChinatown Thanks this.
