Comon if your a bullhaulers wife then you know a log book is just another form of toilette paper that the DOT officer looks at. I pulled a wagon for 4 years running NC to IA every week you can't log that one way and you can't take your 10 cause you only have 24 hrs to get there. Yeah I ran a book and didn't ever receive one logbook violation, and I was stopped at the DesMoines scales a many a times... So if a guy can do math and draw a little picture now and then they should be able to do just fine...

I don't care what the HOS are. I will comply with them 95% of the time and the other 5% I will be creative. If it was just one carrier that had to comply with the PROPOSED (not legislated yet) HOS that would be a problem but everyone in the industry is going to have to comply with them. As "Stiff Ride" mentioned, before the 11 hour rule we lived with the 10 hour rule for decades and managed. It really won't be that tough to adhere to because EVERYONE else will be doing the same thing. Keep you head down, keep pushing forward and for God's sake quit listening to stupid truck drivers on the child's band radio and at truck stops.

It's all going to be OK>Remember the new regs are PROPOSED>>>if you don't like the PROPOSAL then let the FMCSA know.

And I know how this goes I had one logbook violation back in 06 at the knoxville scales along with getting shut down for 10 at the west memphis scales in 05. I have been popped out there I had to take a break because I laid the wagon over on 7-11-2008 in Moore county, NC so no I am not perfect by any means. And I try not to talk trash but only facts that I know first hand. Sorry if I sounded rude...

    Thanks,'

Hubby runs hopper now, which will get you in all kinds of trouble, simply because each and every BOL is a SCALE ticket too. Time in, and time out. AND we own the truck, so some idiot 4 wheeler is texting and causes an accident that he's involve in, then we are screwed. You know some blood sucking lawyer will have a hay day with the suit.

The change will not effect us, as much as some of the regional companies around here. I know of a few mom and pop operations, specifically tankers that are set up 11 out and 11 back.

Yeah, they will have to adapt, but when you've based your business on 11 hour radius, it will effect your bottom line and your customer base.

Truthfully, did anyone really expect the FMCSA to come up with a better rule on the HOS. These people couldn't write a rule if the good Lord gave them the directions. Just another bureaucratic day at showing people you are doing something which is bureaucratic speak for doing nothing. This bunch has the US headed for a european style of transportation sure as God made little green apples. Over regulated, mismanaged, high cost, and little efficiency moving goods, but by golly we did our bureaucratic job. Course it's causing all kinds of dissension, showing a complete lack of understanding, no leadership, no stability, raising costs, but that's not their problem. Enough rambling, GOOD LUCK drivers dealing with this latest fiasco by the "regulation writing Idiots".:biggrin_25521:

Its always a bad thing when a company bases their work around what the gvrnm't allows. That was a mistake I'm sure they won't make again. I hope they will be able to maintain, but I don't understand on why you would even set yourself up for that kind of problem. It is a famous line when fail to prepare you prepare to fail. Just let them know to next time never do what the govrnm't does and take something simple and comlicate it. Personally i think it is a good thing we are going back to the old rules thats what I learned under, and thats the easiest to make right even under the most harsh conditions. Really 10 hrs isn't a bad thing especially if you can split your breaks the old way. I have read the entire piece about it on the FMCSA website, and that seems to be what they are going to do. In reality they don't and won't have a better way to set it up. Just leave well enough alone I say...

    Much ado about nothing!
Ten hours driving is enough! Eleven is one hour more...or an extra 50 or 60 miles. If you plan things and stay out of the truck stops you will not see much difference.
And, how many other people in the real world do you know that work 14 hours a day every day? Just us dumb truck drivers! Work smart not hard.
The average full time worker works 8 hours a day, we work 14 hours a day. That's six extra hours a day...almost twice as much. Thank you deregulation.
Your company will be proud of you for protesting fewer hours because they won't have to pay you more money.

hey guys, I`m sure not to be the only one that sleeps nothing more than seven hrs per stay, mostly 5 or 6 - what am I to do with the rest? I get sleepy again before I am allowed to hit the road, the log book should be out of the window alltogether, SORRY!
