My cousin Kelly was 270-280 when we were young fellas. He’d go down the side of a set of trailers with a winch bar he had about 2’ long and we’d end up cutting some of the belly wraps to get the load off.

Up here by the late ‘80’s early ‘90’s the mills started to get a little picky about our equipment. To load at Dofasco, Stelco or even the bigger service centers you had to have all safety binds and spec blocks and bunks or they’d refuse the truck. Some even got on us about what we were using for bars. Was quite a run on those yellow ones for a while, and then yellow paint once we figured out they wouldn’t bug us as long as the Safety Nazis saw yellow on the bar.
