Sorry you had such a bad time. I went to Kal-Kan once and they wanted to live load me. I checked with shipping and they had a loaded trailer going to the same place so I had dispatch swtch loads. It wasn't a problem.
I understand why you didn't like shorthaul. A 200 mile run was a long one. It seemed like all you did was bump a dock. The longest run I had in eight years was from Cincinnati to Atlanta and I only got that because they were short of drivers.
I also know many drivers that have been there for years and they seem happy. Guess it all boils down to what you want.
I do know what you mean about getting you home on time. More than once, I didn't get home until 12 or more after I was supposed to. To their credit, they did change that. Around the late 90's, they got you home on time and they also fired a few dispatchers who tried to get you to run illegal.
All in all, not a bad company.

When you crossed the line by submitting a fraudulent claim, you became no better than the people you were fighting against. It's never right to do something like that, and you should never lower yourself to their level, regardless of how "wronged" you felt. -
Kmart Store in Fairfield,Ca.
do not park in " their parking lot" as the store manager has put notes on all trucks that park there.he will have you towed, even if you are delevering to that store or any of the other stores in the complex.
just getting the word out before someone gets towed while you are sleeping..... -
You know it is bad all over. In S.C. the county's are trying to make it a ticketing offense to park in the city's. I am mainly speaking about dorchester and berkeley and charleston county's. The truckers got to gather and fought it and so far I think they have won. (I am not sure)But it just shows that the biggest amount of people want the stuff that we deliver but they don't want the trucks parked around anywhere they can see them.
I guess they think the good fairy is bring in all the stuff that they use.
The best thing to do is to ask for the manager of the store where you want to park and get their permission. I tried to do that when I was out there.
A lot of the asphalt parking lots are just not thick enough to hold a tractor and trailer and you could be in for a huge wrecker bill to pull you out. -

Not necessarily true. When a company pays a lease they have the right as well as the property owner for the control of the parking area.northstarfire0693 Thanks this.
