I have found over the years that 80% of the problems with shippers/receivers is the way that you present yourself walking in the door.

If you show up with a chip on your shoulder, for whatever reason, you are going to get jerked around.

I hauled food/groceries for years. If you are on time, polite, and professional - you get quite a bit more done than if you show up rude, swearing, full of lies and excuses.

Yes, you can get held up. I give them an hour past my appointment time, and walk back up to the window and ask, "Is there a problem, because I do need to stay on schedule. I was here on time and ready to unload. If I can't start soon, I need to make a couple of phone calls so people can adapt accordingly, or I can get paid for my waiting time."

    That usually works.

Not sure I wouldnt do a Sam's Club delivery again but never had any luck in Laredo, TX so I typically just keep it off the list as far as cities to go to. Come to think of it only been to TX twice or so in the last year and that was for a direct customer.

My dispatcher always finds a reload right away out of Laredo. May not go where we really want to go but Laredo on a Friday you can't be choosy unless you want to spend the weekend there, lol. I didn't.:biggrin_2559:

I thought Laredo was one of the best trucking towns? Tons of stuff going down to mexico, and tons of stuff coming back to America, after they assemble it in Mexico.
I bet it's a lot harder to get a load in CT, than Laredo.

Then I guess if tarping is not in the contract you can sell a load of lumber. What a jackwagon. Just call the broker and get your $60.
