I did once in Houston at the port. By mistake I went into the wrong gate for a pickup. When I figured out I was in the wrong place after waiting an hour in line to get to the dispatch window, I tried to leave. At the gate the guard said I needed to go back and wait in line again and get a pass to leave. I told him I only came in by mistake and I was happy to open my doors so he could see I was empty. The rent a cop said no, back up and get back in line for a pass. I said no, I was going to sit there and block their exit until he opened the gate. He called his security boss and I called Houston Port Police and told them I was being held against my will. His boss comes a few minutes before the police and jumps up on my truck and flashes his security badge at me and tells me he is Homeland Security and that he orders me to exit my truck now. I told him to f$&K himself and get off my truck and just about that time the police showed up and then I got out of my truck. As soon as I explained what was going on the police turned to the guy and said he had ten seconds to open the gate or he would arrest Mr. Homeland Security for false imprisonment. I left before the police did. I knew they could not hold me and had no authority to hold me. No place, and I mean no place, can hold you against your will. That is major lawsuit territory.

We have never held a load hostage like a low rent carrier would. But I only haul freight from creditworthy customers. I can easily afford to turn loads unlike some in texas morrel

Ok, let's tighten the reins and yank this team back on track. Let's try to keep on topic folks ... okay? The reading comprehension discussion should be taken outside.

Here is one that is similar:
Driver I know was working for a company that was splitting up and moving on to haul other products. Company owner wanted drivers to pay for fuel via their own debit cards... (something I told my friend NOT to do at all) He didn't listen, and in Texas he fueled up and went to get loaded. His card worked fine and he never thought about it again... Well the check that included his pay and fuel amount bounced... and it went back on the Texas fuel stop... They issued a felony warrant for him in Texas(a little steep I thought but in Texas, there laws must be a little more harsh).
My freind found out about the warrant... He was loaded, and drove straight home with the load, truck and trailer. Home happened to be a Native American Reservation. Here is where it became interesting: He called the boss and said I want my $$$ or no load, truck, or trailer. Of course, the boss called the law... The local sheriff, and BIA cops. Sheriff called my friend and said he was going to come out there... Friend said, "I wouldn't do that if I were you". Sheriff said, "Why"? Friend said, "I have a .30-60 on my porch and if I see a car coming down the dead end road to my house, I'm gonna assume they are trespassers, and I'm going to open fire".
Sheriff then asked, "What the problem was anyway". And Friend explain the situation. Sheriff then called the Truck owner back and suggested he clear up that warrant and pay the guy. About two weeks later that is what happened. Then, he got the truck, trailer and load back... and had some explaining to do to the customer.
Was it legal to do? Certainly not... Did it work and take a huge sac to pull it off... YUP! -
