I thought the same thing...it's been the same price for years, and last time we were there (about 2 months ago) it was the same old $.

Albertsons Salt Lake City get's my vote. I don't shop Albertsons anyway, never have. The lumper fees for 30 pallets was $331.64. Told them that the broker said was $300 and that's all we had, he said there's an ATM over there, nope don't have it. Told them they could take it off for the $300 or come to the truck stop with their equipment and a truck and get it, or we would have a parking lot sale to empty the truck. They finally agreed to the $300, said the $31 wasn't worth the argument. 3 hours later and a hole in the plywood in the trailer later (they said Albertsons not liable, was lumper company who says they didn't do it) we left. Last food service load we will pull unless it's going to Costco.

Worth installing a wireless camera in the trailer. Dashcam, trailercam, whatever, with the tech we have today, if I ever owned a truck it'd be wired for technicolor all the way around. You didn't put that hole there? Let's watch the replay. I got my lawyer on speed dial, how's yours doin?

This thread has been around for a long time....

I will add just 2 of my most recent experiences.

Impact Fulfillment - Burlington, NC - Contractor for P&G - not that they are slow to load or unload but before you can pick up a load from this place they want a digital copy of your drivers license. I personally have no problem showing someone my CDL and allowing them to write my name in their little book, but to take a digital copy and store it in your computer...I don't think so!!!

Walmart DC - Shelby NC - Showed up for a d/h and the guard is yelling at me for being in the wrong lane. The driveway is under construction with barrels all over the place, ooops I'm sorry I didn't see your sign while I tried to avoid hitting all the barrels you have in the way. No other trucks in line either. He is cursing at me and telling me I will have to get my arse in the other effing lane. Quickly I told him that he could quit cursing at me or I would turn the truck around and take his freight right back where I got it from. Last time the company sent me there he apologized for his behavior and offered to buy me a coke. Our customer service people got in touch with someone who apparently had a nice little talk with him about his behavior.

So many of these lumper thugs think they are owed top rate money, and just like the unions and the Chicago mob, they get pissy and destroy property when they don't get their own way.

Why are you paying to unload somebody else's freight?

We had talked about that in the past, the outcome is they steadfastly say they didn't do it, the plywood pieces on the floor must have been there before and they aren't paying. Albertson's says not their issue.

"They" always say that. Your recourse is in the courts, and "they" know that. Unless we're talking severe monetary damage, almost no one comes after them.

Dold Foods AKA: Hormel @ Wichita got me for 10hrs total loading time. I suspect they were unloading hogs on the other side of the plant, 'n hacking 'em up, flash freeze & package. I dunno...?

Meat loads are always like that. The packing houses have to comply with very strict FDA regulations to prevent bad stuff like e-coli bacteria from infecting the product. The process takes time... you're lucky it wasn't a couple of days.
