There is a guy in my class who I do not think will get a job

Maybe if you would stop shooting your drivers in orientation, you wouldn't need to hire so many of them. But I will agree that if you are going to shoot them, you should do it straight.

 

Second that. I used the wia grant, best thing uncle sam did for me. Several other in my school used it and one now wipes old peoples backsides at a nursing home and one is still holding out for a local job (one year later). Both passed and got their class a. Someday they will cancel wia funding for it and i feel bad for those who want to use and actually get a career in trucking but cant cause of those who misuse it.

 

I tried to get state funding assistance to get my CDL. Oregon rates success of a program by how many people are still doing the job a year after training. The trucking program was an abject failure and the program was closed about two months before I tried to apply for it. Funding was not available for trucking. That may have changed, but it was the case when I was there.

 

If you put a mirror under his nose and it fogs up, CRE will hire him, then he will lease one of their trucks to really give him something to talk about.

 

I'm amazed the school is going through with his training. My school wouldn't even talk to me until they did a back ground check and I did a physical and drug test.

 

I just went through driving school in Oregon and there were at least a couple guys in class who were funded by the state.

 

Sometimes people like that end up with the best jobs..I see people everyday and wonder how they can find their way to work much less drive cross country..lol

 

As of last year new jersey still did it. Jerz will fund any in demand job, trucking, nursing, ect for those who are on unemployment from being layed off. Of the six people that went thru with me under the wia grant, three of us are still trucking. I know several other who tested after me used it but havent heard what there doing.
