Because an accountant couldn't tell you the difference between a glad hand and a "glad hand"....;)

Only bad thing about getting 9+ mpg is that it will most likely trigger an IFTA audit. I had an IFTA audit last year when I was in the mid 8s and had no problem with my permitting company that does my IFTA reports.

Will probably get auditted this year also now that my IFTA reports are in the 9 mpg range so far.

It's surprisingly difficult to make people to understand that a 600hp engine doesn't operate at 600hp the moment you fire it up.

I understand initial saving of lower HP engines are substantial when you order 100 trucks, but long term, I would think high HP engines get better ROI via better fuel efficiency, less damages to drivetrain (less downshift for newbies going up hills), higher resale value, better driver retention, etc.

What it will trigger is a cut in fsc. When those kinds of numbers are the norm shippers will start to cry and wine...... I am jealous .

interesting that the new Cascadia Evolution, on a recent coast to coast run at a gross of 76,000, got an average 9.67 mpg.

How about wanting to be able to leave your children with a little something when you go. How about wanting to be compensated better than an 8 hr a day employee that makes 60.000 p yr + and are home every night. How about wanting in exchange for giving up a thing called family and having a life to be paid well in return. I think a 60.000 dollar a yr job and home every night is darn good and if you have 3 children there isn't gonna be a heck of a lot of free spending on just that 1 income. Let me ask you , why do you think Big city firemen start 2nd professions ? I know one , as a retired Chicago firefighter and Electrician for 25yrs , he put away enough that at age 45 made the purchase of a small electrical contracting co. in Cicero IL. He had it about 8 yrs , then sold it and retired to Carefree AZ where he's now Vice Mayor of that town. It's called want to be more than just surviving in a unstable economy , it's about having something to leave to your wife and kids in the event you go before they do. And an O/O which I'm not , should be grossing no less than 75.000 after expenses. "IF" he's the type that goes home for a w/e once or twice a month. The ones that stay out about 5 or 6 weeks , take 3 or 4 at home and back out for 5 or 6 should be no less than 100.000 yrly. That's what you should be worth in exchange for your family and a thing called life. This is not greed , MLB players , NFL player , NHL players and NBA players are greedy , not truckers and O/O's.

That don't give a **** about their drivers but will spend every last minute trying to squeeze 0.1 mpg if they add a christmas tree to the hood.
