They must ban "cpm" and "piecerate" pay

Removing 80-year old exemptions to regulation is not adding new regulation. It's just leveling the playing field.

#### straight. Highways become more congested. ELD cuts the hours and therefore miles you can drive. No place to park screws up your scheduling. This is NOT sustainable.

We do not, and have not had a free market since the Filburn decision in the 1930s.

True O/Os who own their truck or have financed it with a bank would not be affected. Banning L/Os would take away the captive market many companies have and force them to compete for O/Os to haul their loads, if they can't or won't hire their own company drivers. O/Os might be better off in this situation since banks wouldn't finance Joe Blow for a 200k truck and let him sign a contract he's likely to fail to uphold, unlike many Mega Carriers.

They're real. So are the cpm ads. Let's equalize the playing field by removing the 80 year old exemption that allows trucking companies to pay piece-rate instead of hourly w/ OT after 40. The rest of the country does hourly just fine, why can't trucking?

It's more vocational than anything really... It *does* require some skill, it takes about a year to really get comfortable with the basics...

 

Good. Make them *all* hourly. Cpm, piece-rate, and percentage are inherently unfair and do not keep pace w/ inflation. Swift and J.B. Hunt will adjust fine.
