Just took to my bank and they sorted it. Took 2 hours . Close to 10k in change. FYI my bank president just snickered when I mentioned coin shortages.

Gonna have to go ahead and call bull*** on that one, 10k in coins? Let’s say best case scenario it’s all quarters, that’s 40,000 coins, 500+ pounds of weight.

I saw a thing about Dave Ramsey today about this "Change shortage" B.S. He mentioned how Kroger, for one wants you to either put the change on a loyalty card, in which the store gets to hold your money interest free. Or else get you to donate your change to charity. The charity that the store will choose and take the deduction for. His suggestion was to pay cash. Like say you total comes to $28.38. Pay $28 cash then put the 38 cents on a credit card that they have to pay a transaction fee on. Enough people do that and the change shortage will be over in a hurry.

Way back in the day I had a Miami Herald paper route that was very profitable accept it had a few stipulations

    The good.

I had a 1000 papers I delivered in bulk to the Ritz Carlton and some other big rich hotel that slips my old mind right now

    The bad.

I had 500 homes I had to throw every night.

Than from 6am till noon service 100 paper boxes along with 30 stores.

The change from the boxes was ridiculous since most did very well and a Miami herald was 1.50 on Sunday .75 Saturday and .50 weekday.

Thank god one of our banks finally got a change counter but even that was a long process

Back before them I would always be paying my fuel , help, and papers out of my Miami herald checks and would literally end up with piles of coins that I was reluctant to do anything with because it was such a hassle

I spent 6 hours down at the branch when they first got their change counter.

I think it was about $12 thousand when it was all over

Crazy times. Tossing papers all night windsurfing all day.

I was a young machine back than.
