First week everything at first impressions is good. This smaller local company has been giving me some decent training. I have driven with the owner several times, he is a 40 year veteran of the trucking industry. He also has me with another driver training me. I drove a Volvo with him today. He has had his civilian cdl for 12 years and drove in the military. His first driving job out of school was Werner and he formerly trained for Werner. So I could honestly say he had some formal training to train drivers. He is excellent, I'm learning more from him then anyone else.
I contacted the boss at serafini before I started and she said she didn't have much work left for me and to go ahead and pursue the milk hauling job. She also said the door is always open if I want to return. I am leaving on good terms, and told her I just can't afford to sit, 350 bucks a week on unemployment just isn't enough money.
I'm getting readjusted to tractor trailer, getting used to tanker and fluid milk hauling, getting used to handling a much heavier truck, and an 18 speed transmission. My schedule has been 630am start to about 3pm.
Things are going well. I can't understand why a smaller company seems to be training me better then any mega. I don't understand why a 40 truck company cannot take drivers right out of school and train them.
Things going well at walton milk hauling
