Something greenhorns like me would have certainly appreciated. (Though, don't think you'd of had a spare ECU for an ISX handy :biggrin_2559:, but it's the thought that counts)

I broke down on Highway 20 in Utah between US 89 and I-15 (just north of Panguitch). Snow was coming down hard and it was cold. Several Truckers drove past me and didn't even say a word. The only two people who did stop and talk to me.. A Snow Plow driver and a State Trooper. It was one of the first times I thought "Where's the comraderie I'd heard about among Truck Drivers?"

I don't feel any shame for my choice to hang up the keys. I gave it the 'ol "College Try". Could have certainly done a few things different but can't change 'em now.

One thing I will say though, the company I worked for certainly didn't help. Swift and I did not get along....

Well, obviously we weren't there that day......we travel that road often and back in the winter ran it about 3 times a week coming and going. We'd have stopped as we have in that stretch for others. It's difficult to sometimes get cell service for onroad etc.

Panguitch.......did you just love the deer that would gather around the "welcome to Panguitch" sign" It was like they were the welcoming committe

There weren't any deer out that day haha. Was probably too #### cold. I ignored one of those "gut" feelings as I drove through Panguitch. Thought "I've got plenty of time on this load.. I should stop here until this snow stops... But nah, road isn't that bad. I'll shut down in Beaver" US-89 was in good shape. It was when I turned on to Highway 20 when things went sour.

Not to derail the thread too much here, but a photo from that fun, fun afternoon.

You know I learned much the same way, had a guy who was nice enough to take me in, teach me the ropes and help me learn, and learn right.

I have thought about it alot since I started posting on the board here, the other day I wound up sitting down and writing him a letter thanking him for all he had taught me.
