Ah I'll figure it out. Just so used to doing either apples or onions or frozen there's always something I've done before and it is straight forward. The planets have aligned against me on this one.
See what tomorrow brings. Maybe I'll just go down to the beach for the rest of the week and call the extra 700 mile deadhead a write off. Loads down there generally pay a bit better than my apples and onions, but the average per all mile works out about the same. Why I prefer the easy stuff and also don't have to do the heavy-load-perfect-balancing act since I have exactly 1 set of holes where my tandems can be to meet all jurisdictions legally for wheelbase and weight. Pray for salads or berries, something light.
Think it's time to go after more of my own customers

Literally sweet, and also delicious. -
This morning I had a direct customer do the whole “I’m running these for x amount now”. Dropped from 1000 to 700. So everyone who thinks direct customers are the promise land can get over it now.
Dino soar, whoopNride, Dave_in_AZ and 4 others Thank this. -
If I understand correctly, a new broker undercut your old broker? IMO You wouldn’t be back soliciting because it’s a new broker you never worked with

Ya Know an Old friend told me a long time ago when I just started my own business, ................"DO NOT haul freight" and if you do, you are "NOT FOR HIRE"
I never took that advice. Thank Goodness things worked out well for me competing with idiocy. -
No.
Winter 2017 (November to early June) "Broker 1" offered a steady rate. The same guy, who I made contact with on my way out said yes, we will do the same thing steady as she goes all winter, same as last time. I thought, perfect. I get out here and Broker 1 tells me the new rate, which is about 1200 lower than last years. Broker 2, who I am certain has the exact same loads, is lower than broker 1's 2017 rate by 400. Or, 800 higher than original man [this year] by 800.
It never was really good to begin with, but now it really is not worth doing. Someone else can do it. I don't ask for the world.... but I won't put up with crap either.
I have learned, and appear to have pieced something together here. I will update with the end result Saturday when the new plan comes together, as I expect it to. Knock on wood.Dave_in_AZ, MagnumaMoose, Lepton1 and 5 others Thank this. -
