I did similar to what you're thinking, and had never hauled a load in my life.

Bought a truck mid April and filed for my authority. Closed my business May 1. Got everything else done by mid May.

Hauled my first load June 1st of this year, with my own equipment, under my own authority.

Finding loads can be tough for new MC's, especially in areas with little freight.

Things are going well now. I have little overhead, and am still putting about 60% back into my truck.

Working hard for 10-15 days usually, working on the truck for 2, and off for 9 or 10.

Should've done it years ago. Much less stress, and good money right now.

I'm too independent to work under anyone else.

My insurance cost is approx. $378 a week. 1 mil auto liability, 100k cargo and GL…I get billed monthly and it is auto deducted from my acct. easy… and my insurance is kind of expensive. If a person can’t cover insurance for the month in one load then something is wrong. If that kills someone then we’ll I don’t know…

So it’s sounding like I am set up well to be successful. I am thinking I might need to spend a little more $$ on a truck. I’m in no hurry and I can save/invest about 2k a month. Personally I believe I will be successful. I’m 34 and know I have a better work ethic than most other millennials

Sounds like you're wired for success in the OP. Some are, some aren't. I'm doing the same with a 8700$ truck from a Nebraska farm.

Trials will come for certain, but it ain't no step for a stepper.

You'll do fine, have more free time, and wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Thanks! NE is actually our first choice in relocating. Also considering MO, SD, KS, and OK

What kind of truck are you looking for? What type freight do you plan on hauling?

Brother suggested anything with a Cummins. He is a diesel mechanic. Was looking at kenworths. I was just going to do dry van but reefer is intriguing.
