And I was wondering if I can expect to be able to use it for 4+ years, or is some EPA reg
going to make me park it? Any thoughts?

There has been nothing saying a glider already on the road will have to be parked. The only limits proposed or passed have been on the building of new ones.

Only issue you may have is if more states come up with and enforce soot tests like nj and ny and California's CARB. Spotty at best. The government will eventually curtail the building of gliders, they aren't likely to tell you your asset is now worth zero and also you aren't allowed to make a living with it anymore.
If I was in the market I would buy sooner rather than later.Mattflat362 Thanks this. -
Here is a suggestion.. For what the they want for a Glider you can buy a older truck.. have the engine rebuilt. Paint the truck replace the rear ends and STILL walk away with TONS of cash... Just saying...
Caterpillar Cowboy, HopeOverMope, Mattflat362 and 1 other person Thank this. -
California is the only State I know of that made their emissions standards retroactive (meaning your existing truck that was legal when you bought it became illegal and worthless overnight).
The EPA are scumbags but they have never attempted anything like that before, if they did they would face a mutiny since most States would never stand for the Nazi crap that California pulls. -
There was a time when glider kits were feasible, but can you even get a glider anymore? When I punch in "glider kits", trucks that are complete come up, but need motors seem to be called "glider 's" now. A glider to me, used to be a frame, hood, radiator, cab and steer axle, you put in the rest. I can't even find one. Used to be trucks were so simple, it was the way to go, but today with regulations, emissions etc., I'd think that would be a hassle, if "the man"( or woman) will even let you do that. Just a billion trucks out there, like TP1990 sez, get an old horse, big motor, and roll down the boulevard, while newer trucks sit in the shop with electrical gremlins @$200 bucks an hour. And stay out of California for heavens sake. I wouldn't want to go there with a truck anyway.

What you have now is the manufactuers sell gliders to truck builders (as in Fitzgerald), they complete the truck, and then sell it.201 Thanks this. -

I see gliders you guys are talking about all the time coming from westernstar in Portland Or. Cab, steer, frame and a crate of goodies banded to the frame. What Fitz gets are what is referred to as a rolling glider which is a complete truck minus engine/trans.
