Both units are at home for now.using garmin770. I have disabled all virus software on windows..downloaded dock again..720 locks up on file 126 in repair mode.730 went smooth..used for two days and "serious application error"pops up..cant spend all my home time on RM gps..when i get back home..will try 730 repair on a different windows platform..see if thats the reason..720 wont even complete repair mode...RM had it for 3 weeks..charged me $100..new batt. New screen...but same lock up. #### I miss my RM gps..but I rely on Garmin...RM Atlas..Smartphone Maps..

I bought the 730 model after my 720 would not charge any more. I bought it on 1/12/16 at a truck stop with an exchange policy. the first one the screen reloads going down the road or stopped and it freeze's up, so I exchanged it for another one in Iowa which did the same thing plus had an error code that would pop up on the screen now and then sitting or driving, anyway long story short I am on the 5th one which does the same thing as most of the other's did . #3 the touch screen did not work. I did the update's and map downloads to each one and also did the dock repair function to each one. I will get the 6th one tomorrow and keep trading them in til I get one that works. I have tired Iowa , Indiana , Illinois so far on these

Have you let it charge out of the box without turning it on?
I find it hard to believe you have had 5 in a row that each one has had an issue.

The first one I bought while I was home so it was fully charged before going in the truck, one of the other units was mostly charged when I opened the factory sealed box so that was probably a reconditioned one, the rest showed the red charge light and all of them got to a green charge light and still did the same thing. The ones that worked I used for more than one day to see if it would get better which none of them did. Each one was hooked to the computer for the update's for around 30 minutes, before rolling down the road.
Sometimes they would do a reset and come back on quickly sometimes they just froze which sometimes I had to push the reset to get them back on. Sometimes they would freeze for a few minutes then reset and come back on. Any reset's did not require the push to accept previous route that happen when you power the unit down and turn it back on.
One of them the touch screen did not function so I could not do much with that one. That was the only one that truck stop had, so I had to drive to the next truck stop along my route to exchange that one.
For sure they are cheaper online to buy but it is nice to be able to be able to exchange them at the truck stops... My 720 I bought online and had no trouble with it for 2 1/2 years , but the USB charging port had been acting up on it for awhile so thought I would upgrade. -
I find it hard to believe also Mark that I could keep getting units that have a problem like this 4 the same problem 1 with the touch screen

The screen we will count that as a hw issue. Rm does not sell refurbished at ts's.
Make sure you have gps also. Preferences/general/gps data. (Should be one of the last tabs) DOP should be less than 1 and used/seen. Used should be at least 4 for a good reference to your location.
There is a slight issue still with production version which may cause freezing. But for 4 to have the same issues is really odd.
If the one you have is still having issues PM me as I would like to see your log files. -
