So you're saying that the freezing and lagging in my 720 is an old issue that has already been resolved with updates, even though mine has the latest updates available and still behaves like a centipede on crack? Is that what you call resolved? You still have not said how you would address these continuing issues after the latest updates have been installed.
"I wish you would stop trying to put words into my mouth."
Hmmm... Did you or did you not say that Garmin updates their maps more often? Did you or did you not say that the issues with the 730 and the issues with the 720 are "entirely different"? Did you or did you not say that the 720 has a "slowness", and the 730 has "application errors and freezing"? That is openly admitting that the 730 is no better, rather, it is worse.
What I meant about your "unwittingly acknowledging" these problems being so widespread is that I can see the exasperation that shows in your replies to everyone's thread here in pointing them to the "support thread", which reveals that an apparently overwhelming amount of people are having these issues.
And you say I'M putting words in YOUR mouth? Attitude is everything, sir. I think you are just more than slightly miffed that I can see through your double-talk, and am calling you out on it. Sorry, but I call it like I see it. You say something and then call others out for pointing out inconsistencies when compared to your other statements, even daring to put the blame on the consumer for the manufacturer's failure to fully rectify known issues with a product that was obviously not ready for the market.
The only thing that makes a product "bad" is when no known remedies solve the problem in numerous units. And mine is one such unit. Obviously, others who have posted here have the same thing. We have a word for such things where I come from -- JUNK.
And BTW, I don't have to keep posting the same things over and over, sir. If you have truly read this thread in its entirety, there are a great number of people posting the same thing over and over. Again, you fail to mention how these issues can be addressed when the latest updates are not helping.
I applaud that you actually drive with these units to road test them. But are you doing so with them in car mode or truck mode? BIG difference. I have noticed mine is more well-behaved in car mode, albeit ever so slightly
I've said before, I don't expect this product to be perfect. But while I've tried to be civil and keep this to a spirited debate, I think I speak for quite a few people when I say that for $400 of my hard-earned money (almost a full paycheck at times in my 2 years), it should work a hell of a lot better than it does, especially with the latest updates.
Truthfully, this all comes off like a campaign manager in an election year, doing damage control for their candidate by spewing double-talk to veil the truth about campaign promises the candidate will never deliver on. I stand by my statement that this platform needed more stability, not more features to make it less stable. And your admission that the 730 crashes with application errors as opposed to the 720 lagging (mine proves otherwise) only proves that statement accurate. I think anyone would agree.
That being said, I have been perusing the thread you mentioned, and while I have not seen an available solution, I did read where you posted a brand-new update that has yet been released. If it will be released in the next thirty days, I will give it one last shot. If it is not released in thirty days, or does not solve my problem, I will be upgrading, and it will likely not be an RM unit. Sound fair?

I bought a 730 2 months ago. It took me a month to get routed home to up date it. I also ran the diagnostics. Still freezes up a lot. The worst it had me go thru town to get to a loves. Instead of straight down the highway to the right exit. Yesterday it had me get off one exit to early. Go down two miles, only to make a sharp right and go back the way I came on a different road to the back side of the loves. But when I left it knew the right exit to take. I'm not very happy. 400 bucks is a lot of money right now. As I'm making squat.

I'm inclined to believe the units get to hot from the power source

I have seen a few, but that was hardware related to that unit not the entire model overall.
