Thinking About Buying a Rand McNally TND 730 - SAVE YOUR MONEY!

well i ended up trying a garmin Dezl 770 just for giggles, i swapped it for a newer 730LM the old one was 4.0 this one is 4.8 and had the latest maps in it soooooo fingers crossed it will work, whats happened to the cord is the Mini USB gets loose after a while, it would constantly flicker red and green, ive duct taped the #### cord this time so it wont get pulled by accident if that's what happened, we had the dezl 770 2 days and it sucked, my wife made me swap it, just like RM better.

i think here is the frustration Mark, not everyone is on the internet or aware of this forum, ive had a couple of people buy TND's in the store and i was behind them, i made sure to show them how to update and get to this forum if they had issues, sorry i lashed out but i was kinda pissed after the tablet fiasco, but here you are the face of RM to the public, not Dave or any of the others show up, so you may end up being the punching bag sometimes, i dont think anyone means it personally unless they are a troll (or a garmin employee in disguise)

the Garmin was quite frustrating, IMHO, so i guess im a loyal RM customer

I am very good natured in that I have been at this for so long I see almost everything, but I am willing to bend over backwards if someone has an issue. If someone needs help then I help them. Granted a few things are beyond my control and I don't set policy at RM, but as with anything a way around policy is always there. I have a great working relationship with the CS supervisor, so help is always an E-Mail away.

Well then, if I may.
Just picked up a 730.
I have been told there are issues in power supply/charging.

Just yesterday I registered the device and downloaded updates and maps.
In your opinion, will I experience the issues described by others?

 

i never buy the latest, greatest product. i actually do wait till all the bugs get worked out THEN i buy it.

 

Told by who? There is a support thread on this same page. If anything has issues it would be noted there.

Sorry if I disturbed your day. You mentioned new product and it has been out a few years. So I was just updating your comment. Many on here would think the x30's just came out, so my post was to basically set the record straight.

i still never buy the latest greatest products.

like when the big LED tv's came out at a mere $10,000 was it,(?) and people flocked to get them right away?

i got mine for $289 at wally's world.
