Yep.. a highly qualified manager of a Truck Stop that has no idea of electronics. Yep... someone I would base my reviews on... Did he define "Broke", since all they would do is accept the return and in no way, shape, or form do any testing on it....

Just like other sites.... It will not route me to my house - 1 star... hum... your house is rated NO TRUCKS on that area... You need a HotSpot to get traffic - 1 star..

seriously .... the return rate is no indication of anything... to get the most out of any device you need at least 3 weeks of using it.

I had traveled before to quite a few trucks stops one weekend from MD down to GA... 95% of the returns there was nothing wrong with the device.. simply the user did not take the time to understand the device..

Most of the time is it power related... I run about 10 GPS in my office constantly in demo mode for weeks on end and they do not "break"... The power getting to the device is normally the cause since without power the device will not work long on batteries..

But,, notice that I offered to look at his 3 used, 1 new at no cost to him for shipping or testing... he only belittled me in his posts... I asked for information since he has them, yet no information was given... so, was this poster a real user needing help or just a poster to post information without owning the devices?

You can't use three weeks cause it freezes up and goes blank within one or two weeks. If it returned more then any other brand there something more wrong then people not knowing how to use it. No one cares you think we are sharing our stories.

So, do you know the case history behind each return? Nope... it could be a lot of things. Poor power going to the units, corrupted downloads, corrupted user files, not turning off/on every 3-4 days, or simply the user wanted to return it.

What I find interesting is that you can come on this thread and post about your returns, yet you cannot find the support thread in the same section which has been on TTR since 2009.

How long ago did you return your units?

I do not deal with stories as stories may/may not hold truth. I deal with the here and now. I support to any degree if you have an issue.

I find it odd that the unit needs to be power cycled every few days. The Garmin units I have, go at least 3 weeks with out a power cycle. Sometimes more. What could be the difference in the Garmin that allows it to do that?

It all depends on how many screens you go to... As you access more screens they will load into memory. This allows faster access time. But, this will use up the memory and if you access a lot of screens you will use more memory... then you try to do a route or search and not enough memory is available. You can go longer, but as a general rule I suggest every 3-4 days. This is based upon the average user.

I know of one user that has over 1500 address stored. When they access their address book this loads the 1500 entries into memory..

I don't know how the Garmin handles screen saving, but they may not save into memory, but release the screen from memory thus your longer boot cycle.

Really don't care what you think I have a right to post my story and stated what happen to me and could care less what you do or say. What so "interesting" about you finding something wrong with me posting my story and acting like some expert and in general know it all.

Your right... it is a story, but a Support Thread is here that somehow you missed.

"Acting"??? Seriously I have been around since the first prototype TND was done in 2008. I have tested every version since 2008. I was one of the "3" that brought the TND to light. So.,,, hummm... maybe I do know a lot about the TND's since I have been around them since the T5B A32 model..
